Many food prices go down

The price of vegetables, fruits, beans, rice, poultry, provisions and other items have gone down recently at both wholesale and retail levels, according to a report by El Nuevo Diario. Prices of cassava (yuca), cauliflower and broccoli were all lower in the markets that were visited by reporters. Tomatoes were down RD$4 per pound and pineapples were down RD$5 each. Even garlic cost nearly RD$2.50 a pound less that in recent weeks. A thousand plantains from the Cibao were being sold for RD$860 pesos lower at the large wholesalers. Other items with lower prices were papaya, sweet potatoes, broccoli, spinach, lettuce and potatoes.
