The presidential drug trafficking advisor, lawyer Marino Vinicio (Vincho) Castillo has warned that the Armed Forces and the National Police have not been purged of the drug traffickers who have infiltrated their ranks, he told Federico Mendez in an interview on Sunday by Santo Domingo TV, as reported in Listin Diario.
Castillo said: "In Puerto Rico two senior Navy officers were arrested and are being tried". In one of the documents he has read, one of the officers said he was aware that some 30 important officers within the Navy were involved in the drug structure. "Important officers are involved in the Paya case, and this is clear demonstration of the infiltration," he said.
Castillo expressed optimism that Jose Figueroa Agosto would be found because of all the organizations involved in the search. He said that it is not so easy to find people because they can hide in resorts, mountain residences, or high rises.
