El Tiempo newspaper of Colombia says that President Alvaro Uribe has announced the imminent visit of President Leonel Fernandez to mediate towards an improvement in relations between Colombia and Venezuela. Speaking at a press conference, Uribe said that Dominican Vice President Rafael Alburquerque had confirmed President Fernandez's visit when they met when attending the inaugural of President Jose Mujica of Uruguay. He did not give a date for the visit, saying only that it would be "in the next few days." Uribe lauded the leadership and efforts displayed by President Fernandez in his mediation between the Colombian and Venezuelan heads of state.
