Gilberto Serulle, former pre-candidate for mayor of Santiago for the ruling PLD party, was dishonorably expelled from the party yesterday. President Leonel Fernandez, who is also president of the party, took part in the PLD Political Committee meeting.
Serulle had announced over the weekend that he would run for mayor on the PRD ticket. The PLD is supporting current PRSC mayor Jose Enrique Sued's candidacy in Santiago.
