President Leonel Fernandez issued Decree 130-10 yesterday, in which 4 National Police major generals and 10 generals were placed in retirement. The director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) and a former director of investigations for the Police, General Rafael Oscar Bencosme Candelier was on the list. His successor has not been announced.
The major generals to be retired are former Police chief Bernardo Santana Paez and director of Prisons Manuel de Jesus Perez Sanchez, Daysi Antonia Liriano Paulino and Vinicio Hernandez Mendez.
Generals placed in retirement are Tomas Antonio Holguin de la Paz, Reynaldo Mauricio Moreno, Angel Maria Rosario Terrero, Radhames Morel Valenzuela, Osiris Alcantara Rodriguez, Julio Cesar Leonardo Burgos, Rafael Jorge Gil, Mario Torres Paniagua and Jose Delio Mora Reynoso.
In Decree 131-10, the President appointed Brigadier General Jose Hernandez Polanco Gomez as director general of criminal investigations at the Police, Alberto Bienvenido Olivo y Olivo was named director of the preventive police, and Manuel Geraldo Rodriguez Miranda was named administrative director of the National Drug Control Department (DNCD), as reported in Listin Diario.
Within the past week, President Leonel Fernandez has retired 31 generals.
