Millions of pesos worth of assets belonging to fugitive Ramon Antonio del Rosario Puente, better known as "Tono Lena", were confiscated by the National Drug Control Department (DNCD) and the Attorney General's office yesterday. The seizures were authorized by a judge from San Pedro de Macoris. The action came at the request of the DNCD. A team made up of prosecutors and assistant district attorneys searched Del Rosario Puente's properties, seizing them in the name of the District Attorney. The seized assets remain in the custody of the members of the DNCD, the institution that is pursuing Tono Lena with a view to arresting him and sending him to court to face charges for his connections with Puerto Rican fugitive drug baron Jose Figueroa Agosto.
The retained assets are two houses located in the Villa Espana Residence, two farms in Ramon Santana province, as well as a tourist villa in Juan Dolio. Other properties that were seized at the DNCD's petition were a sand and gravel processing facility for construction work, located at Kilometer 54 of the Las Americas Highway, near Juan Dolio, and seven heavy dump trucks, all according to the report on the multi-million peso seizures that was given to Diario Libre by a source in the District Attorney's office.
