Most of the "working girls" in Charamicos can be found in Classicos in Sosua at night or the Casino in Sosua....

Just find a comfortable spot on the beach and sit down. You'll see ALL the Charamicos chicas passing to and fro.

I recall Peter used to have one there.

We rented a car last trip and drove around a bit exploring Charamicos. We happened upon the place pictured here - Michael's Stone Snack Bar - by chance, and stopped in for lunch. Really nice casual, quiet spot, with a fantastic view of Sosua beach and the ocean. All of us were pleased with the food, though as usual with Dominican restaurants, it seemed to take forever getting to us (and we were the only customers at the time we ordered). Definitely recommended for a change of pace from Sosua.

Had a lovely dinner in there one evening with Weyland – The view is great and a nice little “romantic” spot away from the hustle and bussle of sosua.

One of the best views of Playa Sosua around and it's quite reasonably priced for food and drink IIRC. Well worth the walk along the beach to get there, in fact I'll try and get there next week! thanks for reminding me :D

I agree about 5 years ago my wingman and I would always go to Charamicos and get some sweet talent now I don't venture in that area unless I am going to Caribe Tours.

Its too dangerous...

At night there isnt much to do in Los Charamicos. Some of the local colmados stay open until the last few customers leave but you wont find any large places to sit and drink like over in El Batey.

During the day Los Charamicos can definitely be a lot of fun to wander around but even in the daytime you should be careful.

If you do go there you will notice a lack of any police presence usually which should indicate this is not the tourist area and you should be extra careful.

As Americans have funny ideas about us English, I should point out that there were also chicas present at our "romantic" sunset dinner:

I remember that Thunderstar drove back at an insane speed from Cabrera, an hour(?) away, with reckless disregard for our safety and that of other road users, in order that the ladies could watch the sun set over the Atlantic. We made it there three minutes before sundown but the engine was shot to hell. Unfortunately the restaurant faces NNE so the only way we could have caught a glimpse of the sun was by demolishing the west wall on the kitchen side:

I like that restaurant/bar too. Been there several times. There is another one in Charamicos with cheap, reasonable good food. Central I think the name was. By the way weyland that black girl looks good. Was / is she u'r "wife".

I will never "wife up" because I have heard too many cautionary tales on here and from Dominican Billy. I have also seen one or two relationships messily unravel myself by now.

But Renate is the nearest I have come to it. I spent a lot of time with her, and a lot of money on her, over four holidays. I paid for her to retrieve her "lost" child from Haïti and will never know to what extent she padded the bill for that but I will always be glad I did so. He arrived close to death and with behavioural problems but now is healthy and happy. She is now 39 and desperate to hook a gringo before she loses what is left of her charms. No great looker and useless in bed but fun to be with socially as the Thunderstars will confirm.

She looked good on that picture. Sounds great that you helped her get the kid there.

No good deed goes unpunished. She turned up out of the blue a few weeks ago and asked me to pay for getting her parents out after the earthquake. I said no. A few days later I invited her and her two boys with other Haitian friends to a pool party at Harbor View. It went off well so I invited her, her older son and brother, to Kakaobaka (the Haitian disco) that night, purely to be sociable as I have no further designs on her. I asked her to order the drinks to avoid paying gringo prices. At the end of the evening I was presented with a bill that was double what it should have been, so she either padded it or was buying drinks for other tables.

Way to get me to pay to import her parents! And that sort of stunt is why I dropped her two years ago. She always pushed the envelope whereas my present regular is bright enough to know how far to push her luck without antagonising me. Much prettier chica, too:

Renet was a lovely lady - ( not in that way for me ) but nice to spend some time with. Both Jen & I liked her a lot.

Must admit - on a few photos of your new regular im tempted! Cant wait to get out to see you Weyland. Its been 2 years since we last had a holiday. 6 weeks to go!

When I used to live in Sosua, I used to walk all over Charamicos during the day, nothing really happening at night, and definitely not a safe place for Gringos and many Dominicans as well.

You are better off limiting your activities to the El Batey section of Sosua, especially at night.
