I talked with the evening manager. I explained that I had a novia de Santiago. I also explained that I have friends that come down and enjoy going out for the evening and may bring home girls they meet. With a smile he said no problem, as always discretion is appreciated....

Stayed there in June, although the room was barely big enough for 2 people, the hotel and staff were very good. Also, oddly enough, the closet and safe were in the bathroom.

I stayed there last month.

Your options for breakfast are pretty limited, but honestly that's the last thing i care about.

No requests for extra money for bringing girls ("gringo tax") assuming you booked a 2-person room, and not even a request for cedulas from the girls, which was very important in my case, but that's another story.

Simple, close to everything in town, i would stay there again.

Tks, good info. And a nice option to Platino in that price range.

Any chicas hang around outside of this hotel that are working? Any close places to walk to meet chicas daytime?

The hotel has a great location. Lots of bars and restaurants are located in los jardines. To find girls during the day I would suggest calle del sol, plaza internacional, utesa. There are no girls hanging in front of the hotel. I would suggest visiting the hotel next door. Hotel Hodelpa Gran Almirante. It has a casino and casinos usually attract working girls.

A pretty long one. Unless you like the exercise, take a taxi.

Also, did not see anything mentioned about if they had wifi in the rooms?

20 minute walk. If you want to be close to the monument stay at Hotel Matum. I prefer Hotel Matum.

I can confirm...strong wifi with no blocked ports when I stayed there.
I was able to VPN and RDP to my machines at home.

The standard room is kinda tiny. The next one up is a little better.
Absolutely no issues with chicas. no ID requested, nada..
Free parking right across the street.

It's a long uphill (in some places) walk to the Monument. I would taxi or drive.

Damn, you must be jogging or running to get there that fast. Fastest walking route I can think of is C/Texas to Estrella Sadhala to Juan Pablo Duarte (which is a long walk) to Las Carreras. I'm thinking that's at least a 40 minute walk. Then again, the most walking I do in Santiago is to cross the street when I have to, so my perceptions might be messed up.

How far is this place from the airport and what would you estimate the price of a taxi to cost?

PP #1 From the airport, a taxi will charge you $20 us dollars. From the hotel to the airport you can take a taxi for probably around 500 pesos. You can also take a concho PA for 40 pesos.

Come out of the hotel, turn left on texas until you reach 27 de Feb. Turn right. go to the next street turn left. You will see ayumento de santiago. Take the road between ayumento and eden northe. Walk through la triniaria and turn right on Ave Argentina. You will come out by Hotel Matum.

Hmm, interesting. I guess my next question would be, why walk there? Taxis are plentiful in that area. And 150 pesos will get you to the monument a lot quicker.

Thanks for the intel! Can anyone also advise how far the Metro Bus Station is from this hotel and estimate what a taxi should cost?

The metro station is a 5 minute walk. Taxi will charge around 130 pesos. That is the min fare in santiago. You can pretty much travel anywhere in santiago and the most you will pay is 200 pesos. (around $5)

You're right, didn't think about cutting through there. The only thing is that if you've never walked it before, you might get lost on all those curving streets between Juan Pablo Duarte and Rep. Argetina. I know cars that get lost driving back there, I can imagine someone who doesn't know where to turn spending 20 minutes walking in circles behind the Ayuntamiento.

Like everyone else has said, it's fairly cheap to take a taxi anywhere within the city limits. That's probably the best bet.

Thanks all for your information. I am going to Santiago in June and will stay at this hotel. Can you advise if the hotel exchanges money, and if so, do they give a fair rate?

Also what are some good spots around there for chicas? I will land at 9 PM at night so by the time I get to the hotel, it will be 10PM and I will be ready to pick up chicas.

Where can I go to pick up girls in an environment like Classicos/Merengue? e.g. pros and semi pros

Thanks in advance.
