Quirino Ernesto Paulino Castillo's defense laywers Felix Olivares and Freddy Castillo, interviewed on the Enlace radio show said that the government of the US has cancelled the visa to travel to the US of more than 10 generals for their ties to the former Dominican Army Colonel Quirino Paulino case. Of these some have been retired. Olivares said that the names of these are unlikely to be known unless these are extradited. Olivares said that who the US requests in extradition depends on the "particular interests" of the US justice.
Lawyer Castillo said that the US officers said in Santo Domingo that Quirino was just a pawn of drug traffickers that were well above him and this group continues active today to tell by the massive proliferation of drug trafficking in the DR and Latin America, as reported in El Nuevo Diario.
