The IX National Population and Housing Census, scheduled for late October or November, expects to count 10 million people and visit 2,500,000 houses, according to the director of the National Statistics Office (ONE). Pablo Tactuk said that the census would take a week to carry out and that they will be recruiting 56,000 census takers for this task. The census is expected to cost RD$600 million. The previous census took two days to complete.
Tactuk said that preparations for the census are going well and that they will have a trial run in Cayetano Germosen in Espaillat province in April, although the precise date has not yet been set. He said that President Leonel Fernandez would announce the date through a decree.
