Do you guys think it is worth it to shell out about 100 bucks on one of those electronic translators or will it be easier to get us a "tourguide/translator" if the latter does anyone nknow someone they will recommend, and abut how much

I bought one for my first trip (a Franklin, one of the expensive ones) and it did help, although it didn't have the pronuncation of the Spanish words.
After the first trip I sarted on a Pimsleur course and believe, that will help you out a lot more.
My last trip I did not use the electronic translator once. Didn't need it anymore.....

I got a cheaper Franklin for about the same price as RD paid. Works well. That $100 model better have a whole lot of special features, like giving you the ability to HEAR the translations!

I got a Franklin 5 language translator for $15. English, Spanish, French, Italian & German. Why a multi language one? At some point in the future, I'll be heading out to Germany to visit of buddy of mine and hopefully check the scene out there and do some country hopping from that point.

Remind me to give you my old translator before you leave on the trip. I told El D he could have it.

Also took a Franklin with me on my first trip. Didn't learn much spanish from it but, the barmaid got a kick out of it. Helped me to nail her. A nice toy but, thats about it. Later, SB
