View Full Version : Rocky's
I know I will be corrected if I am wrong but to get half the NG rate at Rockies which is the 25 bucks that is WITHOUT AC and at least before also didn't include the taxes of about 5 bucks a day. So with AC and tax that would be $35 ?
What about the new sponsors offers at Sosua Vacation Rental for him?
What about a room with AC and with Full breakfast and tax included for $35 at D'Piero with the ISOC discount on a couple of the rooms or more for a deluxe room or apartment or as others said $50 at NG for same. Sooooo many options.

Without A/C it is $25 a night and $30 with A/C and any taxes are already included in the pricing.
The taxes are also included in the food and drink pricing and not added on after the fact unlike at many places. :D

i have now eaten SEVERAL breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, at rockys, over the course of the last three trips.
i have stayed at the hotel twice, and the condos once.
the price of the hotel as apos mentioned, is tax included. as are the meals.
i have yet to have a bad meal at rockies.
the rooms are what they are. rooms at an affordable rate.
it's not the ritz. its not the waldorf. it's rockies. it's a 25 dollar room.
and its worth it.
no, the rooms are not as nice as the fancy rooms at NG, (which cost twice as much) and there is not a pool.. (although hotel members are allowed and encouraged to use the pool at the condos if you like) but the rooms are 25 bucks.
they have hot water. they have electricity. they are safe and secure. they have honest and trustworthy maids. rick goes above and beyond, to ensure that his guests are taken care of. if there is a problem, simply let him know, and he's on it. not like horror stories i have heard from other establishments.
i have certainly seen nicer rooms in sosua. but they come with an unattractive price tag. on this recent trip, i had the pleasure of seeing two different rooms at NG, and one at seabreeze, as well as a room at don antonio.
they are nice. no question about that. but not nice enough for ME to justify the extra costs. i wil lcontinue to patronize rockies on my visits. the only way i can see myself staying elsewhere, is if rockies is booked. (and it almost always is) but if you are reserved ahead of time, you wont have any problems.. which i have also heard that some other establishements have done to people - (bumping peopel out of reservations)
another added benefit... free airport pickup when staying at rockies. i dont see many other hotels offering that.
no, i am not paid to talk on behalf of rockies.
i am simply a SATISFIED customer, who has never been let down, and continues to receive top notch care and courtesy, from an establishement that is more concerned with thier reputation, than the bottom dollar.
as for the restaurant... do a search, there are a few other threads discussing the ribs, the wings, and the PIZZA!!
the breakfast is great, and a great price.. and now, generally served in about 5 minutes !!!!!
the dining area is NEVER empty at breakfast time... for good reason!

I will have to find this place next week while in Sosua and check out the food...How far is it from NG hotel?

Turn left as you leave NG and walk 2 minutes and Rockys is on your left.

I'm planning to go to Sosua for the first time with my wingman in July. Is that a good month?

Thanks for clarifying the AC and Non AC rate. Some time before the BBQ fundraiser you and I will have to meet down there with a couple of other guys I have in mind so you can show us that great pizza you were talking about before.
That would be a nice setting and place to do some last minute Pre-BBQ planning and enjoy some pizza at the same time. :D

In my early days in Sosua I stayed at the New Garden and ate at Rocky's. Was always cheap, but the kicker was you had to wait a hour for eggs and toast......
I went there 3 times this past trip and the first time I ordered and it took 10 minutes.......I thought I was at the wrong place:rofl:
Food is good, price is good, location is good........and now you do not have to wait!! 3 thumbs up!!!

i talked to rick(the owner)and he said he put over $10000( and i would think that's US or Canadian money not RD.) in the kitchen.
Correct, 10k USD.

Glad to hear that! One look at that kitchen before would have convinced anyone not to eat there.

I had breakfast twice at Rockys on my most recent trip. Each time was between 12 and 1 pm (like to sleep in) and each time was no more than 10 minutes. Orders are certainly much faster out to the tables now than a couple years ago.

That's the kind of thing that shows you the man knows what he's doing. I'm glad he's taken over the helm.
