President Leonel Fernandez named Major General Jose Anibal Sanz Jiminian director of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET), replacing General Henry Peralta (deputy director of the Police). Peralta had been temporarily placed in charge of AMET, after former incumbent General Rafael Bencosme Candelier abandoned the post when he was retired from the military.
The government announced it appointed Brigade General Juan Ramon de la Cruz Martinez in charge of the southwest region of the Police, based in San Juan de la Maguana. And Brigade General Rafael Calderon Efres, director of the south region, based in Barahona, as reported in Diario Libre.
