Work is advancing on the Consorcio Energetico Punta Cana-Macao (CEPM) wind park in Cabo Engano, in the Punta Cana area. The company has placed an order for 14 V90-1.8 MW turbine for the Parque Eolico Los Cocos project from Vestas Wind Systems, the world's biggest manufacturer of wind systems. As reported by Reuters, delivery of turbines to the DR's biggest power producter, Electricity Generating Company Haina SA (EGE Haina) is scheduled to begin in December and be completed during the second quarter of 2011.
The company completed a successful pilot project for generating 9MW. The plan is to be able to generate 100 MW of wind power at the Juancho-Los Cocos facility.
