Owner of the missing plane identified

Adjunct prosecutor Bolivar Sanchez told the press yesterday that the owner of the missing Cessna that disappeared from Dominican radars shortly after takeoff last week is Santiago lawyer Arsenio Rodriguez Perez. The pilot has been identified as Colombian Adolfo Rodriguez Vasquez. Rodriguez had landed at Santiago's international Cibao Airport on 28 January from the Opa-Locka executive airport in Miami. Rodriguez had reported the plane had been stolen. Sanchez says that on board there were only two persons, despite a report to the contrary that was filed by the pilot. The pilot had reported a flight plan to Haiti, but did not take that direction after takeoff, but rather headed south. He is suspect to have flown to Venezuela or Colombia. The pilot swapped the registration of the plane for that of a plane under repairs at the La Isabela (Joaquin Balaguer) airport at El Higuero in Santo Domingo.
