Customs Department (DGA) director Rafael Camilo said yesterday that the theft of cables and other copper-based materials has gone down by 85% as a result of the latest measures taken by the agency. Camilo said that this information came from a report he received from the telephone companies. Just 10 days ago, Customs imposed a ban on the export of any copper as a way of putting a stop to the constant theft of telephone and electricity cables.
