A man wanted for allegedly trying to smuggle people over the Canadian border into Vermont eight years ago has been arrested in the Dominican Republic.
Jorge Puello was arrested Thursday night and claimed he was working as a lawyer for ten Americans accused of trying to take dozens of children out of Haiti after the earthquake.
Puello's arrest warrant also covers federal human trafficking charges filed in Vermont back in 2002.
He's facing extradition to the United States and U.S. Attorney Tris Coffin says Puello would be prosecuted in Vermont.
