Operation Walk at the Plaza de la Salud is helping 50 people to walk again. The free surgical procedures are being carried out by Dominican physicians, accompanied by doctors from the Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston, US. This is the third year of the medical initiative that is valued at RD$20 million, as reported in Hoy.
Operation Walk ends on Tuesday, 23 March at the hospital. Some of the operations would have cost RD$400,000 and are well beyond the means of the patients who are benefiting.
