The DR and the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) signed a conditional loan for US$100 million for school improvements. They also signed another US$50 million agreement to support the 10 Year Plan for Education. Hacienda Minister Vicente Bengoa and Luis Alberto Moreno, the head of the IDB finalized the agreement during the annual meeting of the governors of the multilateral organization.
The US$100 million is a line of credit to be used to extend school hours, improve learning programs, especially in math and language in the elementary and high school levels and reduce the number of students in classrooms.
