The National Meteorological Office (ONAMET) announced that it had invested RD$10 million in new equipment and repair of 80 small weather stations around the country. According to Onamet director, Gloria Ceballos, the stations have been equipped with state of the art equipment, staff knowledge was upgraded and salaries of the technicians has been improved. The funds were also spent on promoting better public relations, speeding up the dissemination of weather reports and on an overall strengthening of the institution.
