The former director of the now-vanished Program to Reduce Blackouts (PRA), Marcos Lara Lorenzo and three former officials of that entity were sent to court to face charges of embezzlement of more than RD$53 million. The charges were drawn up by the National Department for the Persecution of Corruption (DPCA).
In addition to Lara, the director of the DPCA also requested a hearing against Sauris Rodriguez Sanchez, the former financial and administrative director, Nicolas Concepcion Nunez, the former administrative manager and Juan Portalatin Castillo, the former purchasing manager.
Bonilla claims Lara created the Christian Renewal Movement, The Chosen of God Ministry, and the Dominican Missionary Foundation and used these to garner funds from the state. According to the accusation, during the preparatory phase which is now ending, some of the accused and others interviewed mentioned the religious groups were created to promote the presumed or real presidential aspirations of former vice president of the Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE), Radhames Segura.
