The local election boards have rejected 210 of the total 14,983 municipal candidates who were registered by the political parties on 17 March. The nominations that were rejected included 51 from the Independent Revolutionary Party (PRI), 50 from the Social Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRSD), 44 from the PRD, 40 from the PLD and 25 from the Democratic Christian Union (UDC). The statistics were released yesterday by the head of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) Administrative Chamber Roberto Rosario, who said that 74 municipal posts had failed to comply with the women's quota, of which 18 were from the PLD and 25 from the PRD. He reported that 19 cases were pending due to correction of invalid cedula numbers and other reasons. After the end of the press conference, Rosario and other JCE officials invited the media to observe the printing of the Voter Registration Lists that will be sent to the 13,250 polling stations.
