The Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) has donated three hectares of land to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Santo Domingo for the construction of a youth center in the municipality of Guerra, as reported by Diario Libre. IAD Director Salvador Jimenez said that the land in Hacienda Leda was donated with the purpose of contributing to the integrated development of youth and family. He said that the IAD is currently transferring ownership of land to city halls, community and religious organizations for the construction of schools, sports centers, cemeteries, and other community facilities. The donation was accepted by Msgr. Ramon Benito Angeles, Secretary General of the Council of Dominican Bishops, on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church. This donation comes at a time when alleged privileges and special prerogatives awarded by the Concordat to the Roman Catholic Church are being challenged by an evangelical organization in the Supreme Court of Justice.
