The editorial in today's Listin Diario urges the government not to become trapped by what it describes as "inaction by authorities that still do not know how to respond to the challenges; neither can the country afford the luxury of losing time in forums, for debating of different theories on this serious phenomenon. The editorialist writes that the government needs to act on three fronts: purge of the Police to neutralize the countless officers with criminal connections; push for changes to the penal procedures code, leaving up to the country's best the modifications; reinforce the capacity to penalize and retaliate of the repressive bodies of the state.
