In the DR Easter is one of the holidays Dominicans take most seriously. It is a welcome season of meditation, reflection and appreciation, but for most people it is the ritual of going away to meet friends at beaches and mountain resort destinations. It is time when city dwellers return to their hometowns to spend time with family, or when relatives and friends agree to meet away from the heat and stress of everyday living in the cities.
