The Central Electoral Board (JCE) judges say that Ricardo Jacobo cannot run for senator for El Seibo on the ruling party PLD ticket, and neither can former chief of the Police Bernardo Santana Paez. Jacobo did not meet the requirement of having lived in the circumscription for at least five years. Santana Paez had been registered as candidate for deputy for the PLD for El Seibo, in a PLD-PRSC alliance, but he had not yet been placed in retirement from the military at the deadline for registering candidates. Military personnel cannot run for public office in the DR.
