As of Monday, Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia will be in charge of campaign coordination for Reinaldo Pared Perez, who is seeking re-election to the post of senator for the National District. Javier Garcia has acted as general electoral campaigns coordinator for the PLD since 1999. He replaces Radhames Camacho, who is the PLD campaign director nationwide. Pared Perez's main rival is a former National District senator and former vice president, Milagros Ortiz Bosch.
Yesterday, President Leonel Fernandez announced that former campaign manager Danilo Medina and Temistocles Montas are to direct the propaganda for PLD candidates to legislative and municipal positions in San Cristobal. Medina has been a Fernandez dissident for several years, after he opposed the President's decision to run for re-election in 2004.
