The Dominican government has received a US$3.75 million donation from Taiwan to be used for the 2010 census, the Santo Domingo Cyberpark and projects coordinated from there aimed at stimulating technological development in the DR. Of the total, US$1.75 million will be used for the Ninth Population and Housing Census set for October.
Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas, Taiwanese ambassador Isaac Tsai, Census office director Pablo Tactuk, Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD) director Eddy Martinez, and Monsignor Agripino Nunez Collado, president of the Foundation Cyberpark Santo Domingo, made the announcement at a press conference.
