Ricardo Jacobo couldn't run for senator because he didn't meet the requirement for length of residence in El Seibo, but the ruling PLD party has found a way around this. The PLD candidate for senator in El Seibo will now be Ricardo Jacobo's father, Manuel Ramon Antonio Jacobo Reyes, who is able to meet the five years residency requirement.
While Jacobo Reyes was not born in El Seibo, he lives and votes there and fulfills the five-year requirement. Upon accepting the nomination, he said that he was taking on the challenge with the hope of contributing to a better future for the province, as reported in El Dia.
