The Police is accusing the human resources director at the state Channel 4 TV station (CERTV), Peronila Garcia of using her position to profit from a visa scam. She allegedly issued work letters with fake positions at the channel to people who did not work there, for use in visa applications. The fraud was discovered when the US consulate noticed that several people claiming to be employed at the channel were applying for the visas and specifically questioned a letter issued to Franklyn Danerys Encarnacion, who was supposedly in charge of television production at the station.
According to El Dia, during an interview with the consul, Encarnacion admitted he had purchased the letter from a July or Mary to whom he pledged to pay US$20,000 after arriving in the US.
