The first COPA Airlines flight from Santiago to Panama has taken several members of the Santiago business community on a visit to Panamanian President Martin Torrijos. Felix Garcia, the president of International Airport of the Cibao was accompanied by leaders of the area's industrial free zones, as well as Dominican aviation pioneer Don Jose Armando Bermudez. President Torrijos received the mission at the Palacio de las Garzas. He promised that as soon as the negotiations on the widening of the Panama Canal were concluded, he would visit Santiago to open a consular office. Garcia extolled the virtues of the Dominican north coast for visitors looking for surf and golf, and the free zones for manufacturing.
