Hi there. Does anyone know any nice Dominican style buffet places near the Intercontinental hotel? I remember going to a Dominican style buffet place which was about a 5-minute drive from the hotel.

They sold soulviners and had a guy and women dance and sing. The guy was playing with a Dominican style stick and can to rub it against.

I have one that I always go to. I have the brochure at home. I will try to remember to post the information later when I get home. They have an excellent menu and also great entertainment. The last time I was there, they had a woman that was dancing salsa and would spin on a bottle.

OK, I found the name and address of the place:

El Conuco, Sabor Criollo
Address: Casimiro de Moya No.152, Gazcue
City: Santo Domingo , Province: Distrito Nacional
Phone: (1-809) 686-0129
Fax: (1-809) 221-3231

They have a great buffet with Dominican food. Here is the pic I took of the woman spinning on the bottle. This was back in 1999.

There is a street behind that hotel that is lined with restaurants. Start there and walk around.

I ate a few meals on that street. It was cheap in December 2002. Should be alot cheaper than the hotels.

I think this place is around $15 USD per person. The waiters are very kind and the food is quite good.

But the restrooms are so dirty.

The giftshop sucks though. Nothing to buy. LOL

El Conuco is a very nice Dominican buffet restaurant. I think it is 600 pesos per person. Quite pricey but the food is very good. I went there last week and the food is good as always.

This place is located behind the Jaragua Casino/Hotel.

On a Thursday night, El Conuco did not have a buffet. Only meals. I do not know why.
