A pound of brown sugar is selling for over RD$18.60, while white sugar costs RD$21 a pound, as the seasonal shortage affects consumers. Consumer Rights Association Pro Consumidor says that brown sugar should be selling for RD$16/lb and white for RD$20/lb.
Previously sugar prices were RD$14 for brown sugar and RD$16 a pound for white sugar.
