The 13th International Santo Domingo Book Fair opens on 21 April. The fair will take place at the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, as reported in Diario Libre. Activities will last through 9 May. This year, several writers will be honored, including Frank Moya Pons, Jose Rafael Sosa, Carlos Nina Gomez, Diogenes Valdez, Antonio Lockward Artiles, Rafael Nunez Cedeno, Soledad Alvarez, Plinio Chahin, Pablo Marinez, Aida Bonnelly de Diaz, Haffe Serulle, Cesar Sanchez Beras, Miguel Phipps, Anibal de Castro, Manuel Salvador Gautier, Manuel Mora Serrano, Jose del Castillo and Dinorah Coronado.
There will also be tributes to late songwriter Luis Dias and late cinematographer Jean Luis Jorge. Also honored will be master chef Mike Mercedes, and a boulevard will honor Hector J. Diaz.
The fair will also pay homage to Mother Theresa on the 100th anniversary of her birth, and to late Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti.
