Welcome to ISOC, Michel.

Nothing to be nervous about. Sosúa is easy. Everything is within walking distance. You will easily find other ISOC guys to get you started if you hang round the usual haunts (Shark Bar, Rocky's, Passions, New Garden, Siempre Sol on the beach). You could then continue to hang with them or go it alone.

Don't worry about your imperfect English. Most of the guys here are American but they still seem to manage somehow.

If you like dark-skinned girls you will have a head start with the Haitians because you speak French. Most of them speak some French and many speak fluent French.

Spend your time until you leave reading up here. If you haven't subscribed to the Picture Section, I advise you to do so. You will recoup the few dollars it costs in useful and money-saving tips and get a better feel for the place reading the illustrated trip reports.

Thanks
it's official now, I booked at seabreeze for the dates stated in my intro post. I've been reading a lot about you guys experiences for the last 2 weeks and I can't wait to be there. I hope to meet some of you when I'm there. If any of you see a bald mid thirties guy with a Montreal canadiens cap walking back and forth not knowing where he's going, come say hi, I will surely buy you a presidente for all the usefull info I got and still getting in this forum.
See you there

If any of you see a ... guy ... walking back and forth not knowing where he's going
That's one thing you don't want to do. If you look lost or you seem to be looking for something or somebody you will be a magnet for timewasters or worse.

If I get lost in the barrios I walk purposefully as if I know where I am going. If someone greets me I smile and say "Hola" but keeping on going at the same speed or a tad quicker.
