The army has confiscated four quintals of lobsters from two people at the Santa Elena checkpoint in Barahona. Lobster trapping is banned on a seasonal basis in order to permit the lobsters to reproduce.
Dr. Bolivar de Oleo Montero, assistant prosecutor for the Ministry of Environment reported the confiscation of the lobsters. The two men who were arrested were named as Manuel Emilio Polanco and Ruben Fernandez Matos.
