Thousands of clients of several leading banks were unable to withdraw cash from ATM machines on Thursday and Friday. Codetel admitted a technical problem caused the problem and said it was resolved by Friday. The Commercial Banks Association issued an official statement explaining that the problem was caused by a failure in service by the telecom company. This is a first time the system is known to have collapsed in this way.
