The Central Bank has announced that an increase in fuel prices, including propane gas, and the price of sugar to the consumer led to a 0.86% increase in the consumer price index during March compared to February. This brings accumulated inflation for the year to 2.33%. On an annual basis, inflation from March 2009 to March 2010 is 7.43%. The Central Bank says the increase reflects rises in the price of propane gas (up 3.94%), gasoline (5.48%), transport (up 8.06%), sugar (31.87%), transport (up 2.5%), as reported in El Nacional.
