An Air Force first lieutenant who worked as a paid watchman at a private property is suspected of shooting to death two young men who had entered the property, east of Santo Domingo. A Santo Domingo court ordered 43-year old Rafael Sierra Perez to La Victoria jail for a year while his case is heard. The Que Se Dice column in Hoy wonders out loud why an officer in the Air Force was working as a watchman.
Hoy reports that judge Richard Quino Natera ordered the arrest of Sierra, who is accused of the murders of 16-year old Eduardo Miguel Cabrera Santana and 17-year old Yordy Rafael Stubbs Demorizi in the La Caleta area near Boca Chica, near their homes in the Villa Panamericana on Km 22 of the Las Americas Avenue.
Reportedly the youths entered the property of businessman Victor Mendez Capellan, and ignored the guard when he ordered them to leave. They were said to be bathing in a pool of water caused by a broken pipeline. Sierra is accused of violating articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code and Law 136-03 on the Code of the Minor. According to reports, first the officer shot in the air and then at the boys.
