The National Drug Control Department (DNCD) says it has discovered a tunnel in the low-income Mejoramiento Social neighborhood that drug traffickers used to escape from the authorities, as reported in Diario Libre. They also discovered a drug lab and 2 kilos of cocaine, and marijuana and crack portions. They arrested two youths aged 19 and 24, and are on the trail of others that got away. The lab and tunnel were detected at the intersection of Baltasar de los Reyes and Jose Marti streets, where there were frequent clashes between DNCD agents and the traffickers. The DNCD reported they were caught in the act while cooking cocaine to convert it into crack.
