The United Kingdom has appointed Ian Alan Worthington as Her Majesty's Ambassador to replace Andrew Ashcroft. Listin Diario reports that Worthington, who will take office in November, was born 9 August 1958 and previously was head of the payment and cashier section of the Finance Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). He has also served as Third Scientific Secretary of the UK Embassy in Moscow and Administrative Officer in Lusaka, as well as Press Officer of the Public Information Department of the FCO. He served as Second Commercial Secretary of the Embassy in Seoul and Deputy Chief of Mission in Vilnius, among other functions. He speaks German, French, Russian and a little Spanish.
