After intense debates in the Chamber of Deputies, the controversial US$132 million loan contract between the Dominican state and The Sun Land Group to purchase equipment for the Police Department was approved. The loan contract will also be studied by the Commission for Ethics and Fighting of Corruption of the Presidency, after former Vice President Milagros Ortiz send a request to that department on grounds of overpricing and other irregularities in the contract, that includes approximately US$42 million in fees and commissions.
