With less than a month to go for the congressional and municipal election, the Administrative Chamber (CA) of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) finds itself in a difficult situation. Decisions are still needed on the appeals filed by so many municipal candidates who are challenging some of the choices for candidates registered by party directors. The Administrative Chamber is "pressed for time" in the printing of the ballots. Administrative Chamber president Roberto Rosario said: "We are 'very tight', at least for the Administrative Chamber, with regard to time. (We are in) a situation that does not give us the luxury of committing any mistakes in our decisions because of the deadlines that are there", he said. He said that they would finish the layout and the artwork of the ballots by yesterday afternoon or today.
He reported that the CA sent the JCE Plenary a preliminary report on the effects of the decisions by the Disputes Chamber on the election ballots. He said that they are receiving reports from local Election Boards about the influence of the decisions. The delay in the printing of the ballots has an effect on logistics, the packaging and the distribution of the ballots, among other things.
