DGII closes movie rental shop

The Department of Taxes (DGII) has ordered the closure of the Mr Movies movie rental branch in Las Praderas because of tax issues. The DGII did not specify how much was due in back taxes but they did say that the problem revolves around (ITBIS) VAT and dates back to 2007. The DGII said that the establishment was offered payment plans and all of the legal steps were taken after the store fell behind in the payments. The store recently removed the "Mr." part of its name.
