The Court for Permanent Attention of the Judicial District of Santiago issued an order last night for eight months preventive custody against pilot Kenneth Cordero Whyms and co-pilot Marvin Dennis Cabral. The two were arrested on Tuesday together with five other people when they tried to leave the country illegally in a Piper aircraft from the Cibao International Airport.
The pilots, who are from the Bahamas, were sent to Rafey Jail in Santiago together with those who tried to travel as passengers on the aborted flight. Judge Luis Noble Gil presided the court that also issued two months preventive custody for Glenys Aquino Rosado, Diogenes Arsenio, Aracena Perez and Manuel de Jesus Gomez. Santiago Prosecutor Yenny Berenice Reynoso said that an investigation by the DA's office has revealed that most of the passengers had false visas and altered passports.
