National Drug Control Department (DNCD) has sent its former chief in Montecristi back to the city for arraignment on drug charges after several hours of questioning at DNCD headquarters. Second Lieutenant Jose Polanco Jimenez was taken to DNCD headquarters after being found in possession of 100 bags of marijuana.
DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron confirmed the information in a statement to reporters. According to the statement, DNCD chief Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo had received complaints "from citizens in Monte Cristi" that Polanco Jimenez had "strayed from his responsibilities".
Lebron said that the "complaints were later confirmed by a priest and by officials from Monte Cristi. When an investigation was carried out it was proven that the complaints were justified".
A team led by chief of the North Regional Division, Colonel Pedro Manuel Nin Suero and prosecutor Jacqueline Zapata searched the hotel room where Polanco Jimenez lived and found more than 100 portions of the drug. Magistrate Zapata will arraign the officer on Monday.
