Preliminary medical tests on the conjoined twins born last week at the Luis Aybar hospital in Santo Domingo indicate that the separation operation needs to wait until the twins are at least nine months old. The two girls, Maria Teresa and Teresa Maria, are now at the Robert Reid Cabral Hospital. They will be relocated to a house where they will receive special medical care with funding from the First Lady's Office and the Ministry of Public Health. Initial studies show they share a liver and also the first section of the small intestine.
