View Full Version : Bank theft suspects shot in Boca Chica

Last Friday police officers shot and killed two men who were allegedly planning to rob the Banco Popular in Boca Chica. The Police say that the men were members of a six-person gang, four of whom were wearing police uniforms, including one with captain's insignia. The others managed to escape. The dead men were identified as Eugenio Paulino, 41, and Ronny Morillo, 21. Paulino, who was wearing a police captain's uniform, was driving a black Honda CRV, plate number G155547.
Police chief Rafael Guillermo Guzman Fermin suspects that a group of recently retired police officers may be attempting to rob banks. He said that according to intelligence reports, the vehicle was seeking its victims in the area.
He said that a local resident identified one of the dead men as the thief who had robbed him of a large amount of money several days before the clash with the police.
On Saturday, another suspected bank robber was killed. Robbers held up a Scotiabank branch in Gurabo, Santiago. Police then reportedly shot dead one of the suspects, 22-year-old Franklin Dominguez Torres.
According to local residents, four men were involved in the raid. When police officers pursued them, they caught up with them at a zoo belonging to deputy Radhames Fermin where the shots were fired. The witnesses told Hoy that the robbers were armed.
