23-year old Eva Carolina Arias Vinas, representing Espaillat, was chosen to represent the Dominican Republic at this year's Miss Universe pageant. Miss Dominican Republic 2010 took the national crown at a contest held at the Salon La Fiesta of the Hotel Jaragua. 35 contestants vied for the title. Eva Carolina Arias Vinas, who was born in Nagua, was also a runner up in the 2006 pageant.
