Planning my second trip and want to see more of Los Charamicos. I know about going down the beach and then up the stairs, but where exactly do you end up in Los Char by doing that? Isn't the Highway right there? Is the beach entrance the best way to get there?

I take the Caribe Bus to Sosua, I believe the drop off point in Sosua is in Los Charamicos, correct? Where is that in relation to stairs going to the beach?

Is there a busy section of Los Char, shops & bars and a residential section? How do you find both?

I tried on my first trip but got lost. Once I can't see the water and loose my North reference point I'm screwed. I ended up stumbling across La Passions by accident. Not a bad thing of course. I also ended up losing about 10 pounds my first trip just walking around, also not a bad thing.

Any help is appreciated, Muchos Gracias in advance.

La Passions is no where near charamicos you must have been lost. I started walking around there last trip. I definitely could use a map of it .It seemed like a large city.

Just get a motoconcho and get dropped off in the center of town. There's
apparently a good pizza place on the main street. Just don't go at night for the 1st time. There is a church closer to the main entrance that should be busy on a Sunday afternoon, just to check the area out.

thanks Apos that second map shows a lot actually for street layouts. its smaller than I thought as I only walked through some of it during the daytime. it seemed much larger , but if I only walked a few blocks further I would have reached the end of town.

Charamicos is perfectly safe to wander around during the day, I would not recommend you go exploring at night unless escorted by a Dominican that you trust.

Yeah, I was lost big time. I was southeast of Pedro Clisante and saw some shacks and thought I might be in Los Charamicos. These maps are great, makes everything clear now. Can't wait to go exploring. Thanks Gentlemen

The Shark Bar is on Pedro Clisante on the right, heading toward's The Europa from The Beach, between Calle Dr. Rosen and Calle David Stern.

As you are leaving Rocky's, #18, make a left out of the bar, go to the corner, make a left on Pedro Clisante, it's a few feet on the right, you can not miss the "Golden Arches". It's 2 doors before the empty disco called Sea Crets.

"How are you Baby"?

If you're lost, just go towards Harrisons, and listen for...

HOW ARE YOU, BABY???

...then you know that you're close to Lou!!

Charamicos is tiny... you can walk the entire town in less than an hour...

If you walk down the steep street at the Caribe Tours stop (you'll see a Bon Ice cream parlor straight ahead) and make a right at the end, the entrance to the beach is about 500 feet ahead. If you make a left just before the entrance to the beach, you're walking along the "cliff" you see from Sosua Beach. There's a great little cafe/sanswich place on your righth, looking over the bay/beach... awesome view!

If you go left at the Bon instead of right towards the beach, then make a right at the next corner, you're on the main street, where restaurant Central is located (on your left about 4 blocks down). There's also some decent shops and other restaurants, etc. If you follow the street all the way around, you'll pass some colmado/bars and other restaurants, and wind up back where you started.

Walking in Charamicos is cool. Very different than Sosua El Batey, more local.

After that, if you're bored, take a publico and head to old Puerto Plata. Lot of walking to do and things to see there.

I just like to walk these streets and seeing lot of people and crazy things.
Best done winter time. It can be too hot right now for long walk.
